Hi Kevin,
It seems that RS is overriding the settings of the Simple Section Navigation plugin which allows a website to list pages and sub-pages in the side bar with a number of custom settings. When I activate RS the list shows ALL children and grandchildren in stead of just the ones for the selected page. Here are two screenshots. The first is without RS activated the second is with RS activated. Is there a setting I can change?

I'm not seeing this with RS 1.0.4.1 and Simple Section 1.3. Are Academic Transcripts, Financial Aid, etc. top-level pages as they appear? Any other parameters I would need to duplicate your usage? Does it happen with the default WP theme?

The top level page is Academic Resources. Under that are 4 children (siblings) - Academic Transcripts, Financial Aid, Graduate Studies, Undergraduate Studies. Under each of those 4 there are more levels. When I click on Academic Transcripts, all the children and grandchildren are visible with the exception of the adjacent sibling's children (Financial Aid). Also, all grandchildren and great grandchildren are listed as though they were all the same level (see under Undergraduate Studies). However, when I click on Undergraduate Studies they all collapse back to where they are supposed to be - with the exception of the adjacent sibling above - Graduate Studies. Strangely, this behavior does not seem to be consistent. When I click on Financial Aid the adjacent sibling above it does not display its children. When I disable RS this behavior goes away and each level only displays the children of that level - as the Simple Section Navigation plugin is set to do. I am using Role Scoper 1.0.5-beta3.

Hi Kevin,
I upgraded to RS 1.0.7 but still have the same problem. I have had to disable RS temporarily until I can find a solution to this. Any ideas what is causing the issue?

Thank you for all your help on this. The issue seems to be resolved and working well. But now I have another situation. Comments on private pages are showing up in a "recent comments" list on non private pages. Is that native to WP or is there a setting in RS? I've looked but not found anything.

Role Scoper itself does not initiate any recent comments listings. The built-in WordPress Recent Comments widget (which displays in a sidebar) makes a direct query to the comments table, which Role Scoper filters at a low level. Checking that again on my test site just now, it still works with the WP 2.8.4
On the other hand, if you're using a Recent Comments plugin I cannot guarantee success.

FYI to others, the Simple Section Nav compatibility fix Loren mentions here is in the Role Scoper Development Snapshot, soon to be released (along with some other improvements) as RS 1.0.8.
