Heres a thought…

You have past, pending, and scheduled revions… What about if you could expire revisions? It would only work on current/active revisions, but maybe you could set a date and time in revisionary on a page/post that would change the state to expired and essentially make it unavailable.  This could be used for temporary annoucements or promotions which may only be relevant for a particular time period.
