Hi,

Having great fun with your plugin! It's great, but a bit of a challenge to fully understand… hopefully I'm up for it!

A quick question…

I have a site with four users, each with access to different pages and posts.

I have created a small catalogue for one user (a subscriber) which sorts based on a single parent category and various child categories.

However, I've tried various combinations of roles/groups etc and can't manage to allow him to post new entries to the parent and a child (that's fine) AND with the possibility of creating a new child category (without giving him the ability to manage categories and potentially add another top level category, which would place his post nowhere!).

Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated!

Andy

I just uploaded a development version 1.3.28-dev which includes the following changes:

  • BugFix : Term-specific management roles did not grant editing access
  • Change : Term-specific management role also grants ability to create child terms

This restores the category management possibilities to my original design:

  • can grant site-wide management (via General Role) or management of specific terms (via Category Role)
  • Category Manager role for specific term allows editing of the term and creation of child terms
  • if you assign the Category Manager role "for sub-categories", newly created categories will also be editable

However, enabling users to create sub-categories but not fully edit the category would be new feature development that I'm not prepared to volunteer. I am available on a consulting basis if you need that.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for that! I'll take a look at the development version.

Just noticed one other thing that was happening too. When I set users up as Post Editors (with access to some pages too), they lose the Page admin menu when they go to edit a specific post - that's the only page it disappears on. It's not a major issue, but a hassle.

Any ideas on that one?

Cheers

Andy

I just updated the development version with a fix for that. If you pull it from wordpress.org within the next 20 minutes, check readme.txt to confirm you have the updated package with additional bug fix.
