We create websites for clients and use wordpress to allow them to update SOME of their content.

basically we want to allow OUR clients to have some pages that are password protected. We want to give them the opportunity to have a private area on their website that only THEIR clients can login to and view.

one solution would be for them to be able to keep some of their pages as 'private' and then to create a new user account with the suitable permissions for THEIR clients. Then THEIR clients could login and go to the page that was set on private by them.

the problem with such an approach would be that we would have to give OUR clients the opportunity firstly to be an administrator (and thus to see data that we would rather keep private such as plugins and settings) and also to add other administrators which we would prefer not to happen. One can not add new user accounts in wordpress without be an administrator so we seem to be in a bit of a pickle.

The question is how to enable non-administrators to add new non-administrator wordpress users.

any thoughts or ideas?
