Not sure if you've looked into it or not, but there is WordPress plugin (and standalone php code) called Bad Behaviour which is highly effective at preventing bots from even accessing your site. You may want to check it… my brain hurts from all the addition you make me do! lol

Funny, I sometimes get compliments on the math challenge as a nice touch. But I really can't take credit or blame, since this is just an instance of the Simple:Press forum plugin. If I have a really slow day I may check into whether Bad Behavior would integrate with it. :)
