Weird problem here. As administrator and poster I cannot see my own posted pages or anyone's if they are private. Any user that is not an administrator can read these same pages. I checked rights under administrator and I do see "Read Private Pages" and "Read Private Posts". Any advise for this new user of this cool software?
**edit I can see the posts if I keep clicking older but I cant see a list of the Archives. Normal users can see a complete list of Archives

What function call is your theme using to display the archives? What happens if you temporarily switch to the default theme?

I tried switching to WordPress Default 1.6 by Michael Heilemann but I got the same result. When I log into any other user besides ones with the administrative role I get the same result.

So the list of archives that's missing private posts is the one you get after clicking on the month link provided by the Archives widget?

I confirmed this bug for the special case of the wp_get_archives call with the postbypost listing type. Private posts were not listed to logged Administrators. The updated Role Scoper Development Snapshot includes a fix for that bug.
