Sorry, but I'm throroughly confused by how much this plugin can do.  But I only need it to do a few basic things and can't figure out where to start.

All I want to do is…

  • give user 1A permission to edit page ABC only
  • give user 2B permission to edit page XYZ only
  • give user 3C permission to edit page ABC and XYZ only
  • and so on

(no posts involved, only pages.  And none of these pages were originally authored by these people)

How do I just simply do that basic function of designating a few specific users to be able to edit a few secific pages (on an individual basis, not as a group).

Thanks

1. ensure that the users in question have a WP role that does not grant page editing capabilites 2. enter the WP Edit Form for Page ABC 3. expand the Editors metabox and select the checkbox for user 1A 4. save the page 5. repeat for other pages

A bulk role assignment form (Roles > Pages) is also available.

THANK YOU!!!  That is so much easier than what I was doing.  I was going through all those options and setups.  This couldn't be easier now.  Thanks.

Follow up question:

I have one person who is responsible for editing about a dozen different pages.  No big deal if I follow your instructions above to add him as an editor to each of those pages.  But I'm now realizing that he is elected to his position and those same dozen pages will be the responsibility of somebody new every year or two.  So what would be the easiest way to set it up that "elected_guy_1″ can edit those dozen pages, and then assign Joe Smith to be "elected_guy_1″?  And then next year I would leave all the pages as they are but just make Bob Jackson to be the new "elected_guy_1″ and remove Joe Smith from that 'group'?

In basic terms, what am I looking to do to streamline this for a rotating editor position like this?

Go to Users > Role Groups and create a new group "Elected Guy 1″

Make Bob Jackson a member of "Elected Guy 1″

Assign all the Page Editor role assignments to the group "Elected Guy 1″

I am very new to this plug in also. I am not sure what you mean when you say "

Assign all the Page Editor role assignments to the group "Elected Guy 1″

"

Please explain this above statement

I really could use some instruction Manual or something. It would be very helpful with having some examples.

I mean all the roles he assigned to the user (via Roles > Pages) need to be assigned to the group instead.

The Role Scoper Usage Guide is somewhat outdated and incomplete, but does explain how to assign Page Roles.
