I have Word Press integrated with BB Press forum so they share registered users and BB Press recognizes standard WP user roles. When I create a custom role and login to BB Press, I cannot create posts in the forum. Is there any way to assign custom WP roles to standard BB Press roles?

By "custom role" do you just mean another WordPress role with a non-standard set of capabilities? How did you create it, with Capability Manager or Role Manager? How do you see this involving Role Scoper?

I created a new role using Role Manager, then assigned that role to a user. When the user logs into WordPress, they should also be logged into bbPress, as these two applications are integrated and share a common user database.
The problem is that bbPress does not recognize this new user, which refeats the purpose of integrating the blog and forum applications. This may just be a limitation of bbPress, but I was wondering if there is some work around that can make the custom role look like a standard WP role to bbPress, yet still retain the custom capabilities in WP.

I haven't looked into it, but maybe you could get away with just modifying one of the standard roles instead of creating a new one.

@Tilehaus - did you ever get Role Scoper working right with bb-press?
I'd be interested to see anything on it… as that's my next mission.
