Can't access any features after installation

I'm using WordPress 2.9.2 on a Windows server. After installation, I see the Roles and Restrictions links in the dashboard, but when I click on them, I get this error:

500 - Internal server error.

There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

I tried deactivating all other plug-ins to see if they were conflicting with it, but the problems persists even when it's the only one running.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I'm having a similar problem (awesome plugin by the way - I've used it with earlier installations of Wordpress). I'm on Wordpress 3.0.1 and when I activate the plugin, the next thing I see is a "500 internal server error". If I try to navigate anywhere else within the admin side, I see the same error. I have to manually remove the role scoper plugin for everything to go back to normal. Any ideas? Thanks in adavance!

What RS version are you running?

It would be helpful for me to know if the generated menu link is invalid or if it's just not being processed correctly.

Can you give me an example of the generated menu link (full URL, not just menu caption) which are failing? At least one link Role Scoper and one non-RS link would be great. Then also tell me how the regular link is constructed with Role Scoper deactivated.

By the way, I corresponded with rtc35 by email and fixed that bug in RS 1.2 but never got around to reporting that fix here.

I see there hasn't been another post here in some months but I haven't found any answers to this question elsewhere.

I can successfully install and use Role Scoper (version 1.2.7) on a Unix/Linux-based server but when I try on a Windows-based server I am able to install the plugin and access parts of its functionality but not all. It looks like there's really only one problem function: When I try to go to Role Groups I receive an HTTP 500 error (the url it's trying to reach is /wp-admin/users.php?page=rs-groups).

I tried this first on an existing blog and then a totally clean install of both WordPress v. 3.0.1 and RS - I had the same issue both times. The site is hosted by Millennium Systems - they have PHP 5 installed/enabled, but not Apache. Is there a way to make your plugin work without Apache?

BTW, the plugin is EXACTLY what I need and I'm excited to get it working. Thank you for building it and thanks in advance for your time and assistance.

I worked with tbeigle to track this down. It turns out his IIS server is configured such that any PHP notice triggers a 500 error. The RS code that triggered the notice is fixed in the 1.2.9 and 1.3 Release Candidates.
