Hi there,

This may be a simple problem…. I've looked through the forum and haven't been able to find a solution. So I thought I'd switch from "lurker" to participant.

:-)

I've added a user and I'd like to allow him to post articles in a sub category.

I originally set up this user as a subscriber (in the WP user admin).

The main blog category is called "Blog" and there's a sub category.. we'll call "Sub".

So I set up "user" as Post Author in both "Blog" and "Sub".

In the WP admin, when logged as "user", I can see the Post options. When I click "Add new" I get the add post form with the "Blog" and "Sub" categories.

I submit a post and I get a blank screen… and a post is created as a draft.

When I attempt to edit a draft, the edit post form doesn't load. I get the page title "Edit Post" but there is no form.

I'm using Role Scoper 1.2.7

I suspect it's an oversight on my part.

Also using the following plugins:
All in One SEO Pack
Slickr Flickr
Widget Logic
WP No Category Base

Thanks!

My guess is you're hitting an "out of memory" error. You could confirm that by temporarily adding this to wp-config.php, above the "stop editing" line:

define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );

Be sure to deactivate any plugins you don't need. In some cases, it is possible to raise your PHP memory limit.

A few options you can change to reduce Role Scoper's wp-admin memory usage:

* disable Features > Content Maint > "Filter users dropdown"

* disable Advanced > Role Assignment Interface > "Limit eligible users for Post-specific editing roles"

* disable Advanced > Role Assignment Interface > "Indicate blended roles"

And if you don't need non-Administrators to assign content-specific roles at all:

* set Features > Content Maint > "Roles and Restrictions can be set" accordingly

Kevin,

You were bang on. Funny though, I suspected it might be  memory usage and attempted to up PHP's memory for that site. But I made an error and only assigned the same amount of memory that was by default.

I had a feeling there was oversight on my part.

The plugin works great now.

Thanks so much.

Yves
