HI Kevin
I have 22 users, each with access to only their own page and post. However, I need them all to be able to change and update categories on their posts.
I've been trying to find the right section to unrestrict categories for all (as they only have access to their own anyway) but can't find it!
Is this possible? If so, How!
Great plugin, if a little brain-frying at times! (Maybe I've been staring at it too long…)
Thanks in advance,
Miles

Thanks Kevin, but I'm not a coder. What do I do in there?

Make sure categorydiv is not one of the listed elements.

Are you also using the Adminimize plugin? Or Revisionary?
Have you modified the post type definitions so the required capability for assigning terms is no longer "edit_posts"?

HI Kevin
Sorry but I really am a beginner at this, so the answer to the last bit is no, I haven't. I don't use revisionary or adminimise either. Do those two help? Would the modifying posttype definitions be in the main WP Codex?
Sorry for asking such seemingly basic stuff!

No, don't add those unless you have some other reason to. I just wanted to know if they are already a factor.
Since I don't see this problem, I'll need to know more about your configuration (both WP and Role Scoper) but don't have time right now to prompt for every pertinent detail.

I've just confirmed a bug in this area:
- Subscribers / Contributors with Post Editor role for a specific post cannot change that post's categories.

This wasn't exactly a bug - more of a gap in the design. Assignment of the Post Contributor / Author / Editor role for a particular category enables a user to function as a Contributor / Author / Editor within that category - for post creation or editing.
In your case the user is assigned a Post Editor role for an individual post but lacks any blog-wide or category-specific editing roles that would allow for category assignment. Since many sites are no doubt counting on this behavior, I cannot modify it to meet your expectations. Instead, I'm adding support for a supplemental Category Assigner role. This does not grant post creation/editing capabilities but specifies categories which are assignable to any user-editable post regardless of post ownership or status. Equivalent Assigner roles are also available for hierarchical custom taxonomies.
This feature is included in the updated Role Scoper Development Version (1.3.28-dev).
