I just updated to version 1.3.46 today and i'm running WP 3.2.1.
I have a Custom Post Type that is set to Article Reader, Restricted under Restrictions.
I've created a new Role Group, Members.
Under Roles I've set CPT Article Reader under "DEFAULTS for new CPT" to Group: Members.
When I create a new Post under this Custom Post Type the permissions are set correctly, only allowing the Members group to read the Post. After saving though, the choice of the Members group is not retained. When I go back to Roles and look at the newly created item, it does not show any permissions.
Any ideas about what might be causing new Posts not to retain the set permissions?
Thank you for your help.

Thanks for letting me know. I just updated the Role Scoper development code to fix this.

Cool thanks Kevin. Sorry didn't get back here in a timely manner to see the reply, I forgot to subscribe to the thread. I'll check out the code, thanks again.
Blessings…

The dev code works. Thanks much. One other similar bug i found.
Clicking on the CPT under Roles then on the "DEFAULTS for the new CPT". I then set the restrictions for Readers to:
Restrict for CPT article, Restrict for Sub-CPT, then click the two boxes next to the user group. Then save, the settings are not retained.
Just wanted to pass that along, thanks again for the great plugin.

I'm not clear on some details of this last report:
* do you have default Restrictions set, default Roles or both?
* in the "Add New" form, are you checking the "restrict" boxes or are they already checked by default?
* in the "Add New" form, are default role assignment boxes checked? Are you also checking role assignment boxes for additional groups? What is not retained following the save?

No problem, sorry for the confusion.
The CPT has default Restrictions, yes, on the Reader Role.
The Add New form has the restrictions already set, that works well. All of those are retained no issues there, not anymore.
The issue is in the Roles area on the CPT's page.
I've assigned a Group, Members in this case, to be a Reader on the CPT.
When clicking on the "DEFAULT for new CPT", I'm taken to the Object Role Edit screen.
Under Readers I have the first and secon boxes checked.
- Restrict for CPT Article (only selected users/groups are Readers)
- Restrict for Sub-CPT
Under that, the first box is checked for the Members Group giving them access as Readers.
If I do anything, like check the second box in the { } or change anything on any of the other roles then Update, the settings get zeroed out and the Restriction for the Readers is removed and becomes unrestricted.
Does that help?

Okay, so if we just pretend that the "DEFAULTS for new Goodies" link is disabled and assign the default role via the bulk admin UI, everything is okay?

Yes, that is correct. It's totally not a make or break it functionality, just something to note, that's all.
