Hi there

When I enable the Role Scoper plugin, my Editors can't see a list of categories when they write a new post or edit an existing on.

Quickediting, they can.

Anyway this can be fixed?

Thanks

I'll need to hear more about your configuration, as this is definitely not a common occurence. What other plugins are you running? Did you modify any RS options?

Hi

All I can see is that, when signed in as an editor, this is produced on the edit post panel:

Whereas as admin, I get a full
with lots of
s, listing all the categories.

This difference does not happen when the Role Scoper plugin is deactivated.

I am planning to use Role Scoper properly, at some stage, I'm training in some people to use wordpress on their website and they've asked for private areas and I believe Role Scoper will be perfect for it.

But at the moment I realise that I don't use any of its features so I've disabled the plugin.

But it's only temporary - I do want it to work - but the people who I have given the role of editor to have been messing up the categories because each time they edit a post, it is set back to uncategorized when they save it. And they are doing this a lot, as they are going over old posts and editing them. I don't want to make them all admins.

I've checked a few plugins that may be causing it, but disabling them doesn't change the problem. The only one that appears to be the problem is Role Scoper.

The following plugins add widgets to the edit/write post panel:

Ozh' Admin Drop Down Menu

All in One SEO Pack

Page Links To

Mailpress

WordTwit

Sociable

I am using the latest version of Wordpress.

Thanks

Okay, I'll look into it next week. As far as you know, you haven't change any settings or options that would customize the way roles are treated? If you're not sure, it may be worth going into Roles > Options and hitting the Defaults button.

Thanks for replying.

I did as you suggest, and the categories appeared like magic again for editors.

So the problem lies in the settings and options I was using before.

My hunch that it is probably to do with role scoper not being prepared for a user like me who enables it as a plugin, but then more or less deselects every option so that the plugin is doing practically nothing.

I repeat, I was keeping the plugin active but doing very little only so that in the next few weeks I could gradually add capabilities to various users and category managers.

If you can't replicate the bug based on what I've said above, I will spend some time on a localhost setup to find out which option is the problem.

Best wishes
