I'm trying to configure RS to protect file attachments to protected posts.  In the Role Scoper options page, I checked the "

Below the checkbox, it reads:

Block direct URL access to images and other uploaded files in the WordPress uploads folder which are attached to post(s)/page(s) that the user cannot read. A separate RewriteRule will be added to your .htaccess file for each protected file. Non-protected files are returned with no script execution whatsoever.

I've just update the plugin to the latest version, and the behavior still persists.

There's no additional text below that that explains why File Filtering can't be turned on?

After further investigation, Role Scoper cannot enable file filtering because mod_rewrite is not enabled on your server.
