Hello,
I followed the instructions in the Role Scoper user guide to grant a user post editor access to only one category.
1. Create user as subscriber
2. In the Roles->Categories menu, I granted that user post editor access to one specific category.
This would lead me to believe that because the user has the "post editor" role for that category then they would be able to upload images using the media library. Unfortunately the media library does not show up in the dashboard when logged in as the user. Neither do the insert media icons in the post editor show up when writing a post.
So in summary I'd like to be able to:
1. Create a user
2. Constrain that user to a certain category i.e. post editor for one category only. All other categories filtered out from their dashboard view to make it super simple for them to post to one category only.
3. Allow them to use media library to insert images into their posts.
Thank you for your help.
Best
Brian

Can they upload images through the Edit Post form after saving?

Yes! Thank you! Just tried it and it works. Your help saved me a lot of trouble.
I don't want to be greedy… but one more question. If the user clicks on the media library menu (both in a saved post or just the dashboard), they get an access denied message. I would expect it to display the media library as usual, but just show those pictures, etc. that are attached to a post. This isn't really limiting anything in the way of doing what I wanted to do above, but it would be a nice added touch for the user to be able to browse the library without having to go into a post and click the add media icon.
Best

Yes, it should work that way and did in past versions. I'll let you know when that behavior is reinstated.

Hi,
Just ran into the same problem (a subscriber can't upload to media library unless saving the post and then opening it from the edit menu). Why is this happening? any way to workaround this until an official release is out?

1.2.2 under WPMU 2.92.
Does 1.2.5 solve it?
