I'm trying to hide .poscustom and .postexcerpt from authors, but the option I see for this in advanced only hides for contributors. Is there a way to expand that function to authors?

Good idea. The updated Role Scoper Development Snapshot includes some new parameters in Roles > Options > Advanced > Limited Editing Elements. If you don't mind running a beta version, give it a try and let me know. Otherwise, the feature will be included in the next release.

Works like a charm! Thanks!
When do you expect the new release to go live?

The plan is for sometime next week. I want to give it a little more testing and possibly wrap in fixes for some other unresolved issues.

I see that the latest version of rolescoper has the option to "Limited Editing Elements" however I seem to be unable to remove those editing elements from specific roles (in my case, contributors)
My rolescoper set up is very basic - all I've scoped is the ability for contributors to post images, so I don't know if there's a way to handle this using usergroups, etc.
Any ideas? Thanks!

The upcoming RS 1.1 release will let you specify a blog-wide role that's required for the display of Limited Editing Elements: Contributor / Author / Editor / Administrator.
