I'm experiencing the HTTP error with the flash uploader. In my case, with contributors who have the uploads permission added.
I understand from other posts that you're aware of the problem, but can't reproduce it. I'm happy to be a guinea pig. If you want me to add debug code I'm happy to do that.

So Administrators can upload fine? Do you have any Category Restrictions set? Does the upload error occur when trying to upload from the Media Library, from Add / Edit Post, or both?

Believe it or not, this problem has gone away of its own accord (at least I'm not aware of making changing that would affect it). I'll post back here as soon as it re-occurs.
