Howdy guys and gals.

I've got kind of a strange thing going on here, and to be honest, I'm not 100% sure it's the Role Scoper plugin. I also have Revisionary installed, along with a plugin called "User Role Editor" - i'm pretty sure this one isn't the cause, though.

Let me set up my site for you.

I have it set up to where a certain user group can edit one page and their sub pages. They have been creatd by an admin, and the user will edit and submt for review to be approved by an admin.

I have most of it set up as I want it be. I have the user able to edit posts in one category, submit for a review by admin to be published. I have a main page w/ it's children editable by the user w/ submission to the admin for review and publish. But it's not perfect.

Anyway, my issue is this. When I try to create a new post or a new page, the Featured Image module is there, but not the option in the "page attributes" module for the "parent page." Which means they can't post new pages in their specific area. They can post a page, but it's not there for them to edit, because it's not a sub-page of the one they can edit.

When they go to edit a page, the "featured image" module as gone, as well as the "page attributes" module.

Now, under roles > options > Advanced >Limited Editing Elements > Page Edit Form HTML IDs: I have the field completely blank, so in theory every div should show up, right?

For "Specified element IDs also require the following site-wide Role:" I have that set to "no requirement"

What am I doing wrong? Everything else works perfect, but I really need this fixed, becasue part of the job of this group is to set up the featured images on every page, and they're not able to do that, nor are they able to create new sub pages.

If anyone needs more info, please let me know. I'm using the most current version of WP, and the most current versions of "revisionary" and "Role Scoper"

Thanks in advance for your time, and Thanks for a great plugin!

Oh, I forgot to mention this, and this is also strange.

On the "edit page" screen, if I opn the "Screen options" tab, I can see "featured Image" and "page attributes" are checked, but they are not showing up.

It's gotta be something in role scoper, possibly revisionary. I'm just not sure what it is, exactly or where to find it.

I searched in the forums, but I couldn't find anything that related to my specific issue.

Thanks again, y'all. I really do appreciate it.

Non-Editors who have been given a Page Author role also need a Page Associate role on any page which they cannot fully edit, but which should be selectable as Page Parent.

Hi Kevin, thanks for getting back to me. I'm afraid I'm not following you.

I don't know how to set up two roles. What are you saying I need to do? Do I give them a "page author" role on the pages they can edit, then a "Page associate" role on the pages they cannot edit?

I'm afraid what you're telling me to do doesn't seem to work. If I set the user gropu to "page associate" they can no longer edit any of the pages. It doesn't even show up in their "view all pages" screen.

Here's my set up, let me know if I'm doing something else wrong, because there is a good chance that I am.

I have a new group set up as "teacher" which is based off the options for an author. The new user group has some extra rights that the "Author" group doesn't normally have.

I also have the "revisionary" plugin installed so that the users can submit their changes for review, as well as set pages to updated in the future. This is a requested feature from the client.

Each section and sub pages has a user role asigned "pages-alumni" for instance, is the group assigned to the alumni section and all child pages. Currently "pages-alumni" is set to the role of "page revisor."

They can edit and everything works fine with these options set like this. Everything works pretty much as I want it to. The only problem is that the modules for "page attributes" and "featured image" are not showing up.

I have the options in my screen options window. They're checked and should be visible. They're just not showing up.

Under Options > Advanced >Limited Editing Elements > Page Edit Form HTML IDs - I only have the following: pageslugdiv;edit-slug-box;pagecommentstatusdiv;

It is still not showing up. If I have that area completely blank, I can see the comments, slug box, etc. But I still don't see "featured image" and "page attributes"

I really need to get this to work. Does anyone have any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Really, what I'm hoping to fix is just to figure out what settings need to be corrected so that the users can see the "featured image" and "page attributes" modules but still have to submit the page to be reveiwed by an admin.

Does anyone know what user level options need to be set normally to view this? I know that by default Editor is the lowest level that can see this. But under the User Role options, there is no way to set this specifically for a certain role.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Are you going to approve these posts at some point? I really could use some help with this.

The site is supposed to launch on monday and this still hasn't been resolved.

I'm sure as the developer, you'd be able to tell me easily what I have to do to get this to work. I'm sure its's something I'm not doing correctly.

Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Roles > General : Page Author role enables creation of new pages
  • Roles > Pages : Page Editor role for editability and selectability of specified page(s) OR Page Associate role just to make them selectable as parent page

Revisionary 1.1.5 does not support revisioning of the Featured Image or Page Attributes.

No problem. Ideally I would have provided that info sooner, but you caught me at a task backlog peak.
