Hello,

Firsly, great work with Role Scoper, its seems brilliant and this is without me having got my head around it yet.

Just three quick usage questions if I may;

1. Is it possible for a user to only be able to enter information into a pages body. E,g, not be able to change the title or permalinks.

2. Is it possible to prevent a user from adding/removing/editing the custom fields and changing the other boxes around the body input box?

3. Can you control what a restricted user (a user that is only allowed to edit a certain page) sees when they log into the WP dashboard. For example, this restricted user (the user that is only allowed to edit a certain page) only sees the 'Pages' tab on the left hand side.

Thanks in advance, I really want to get my head around this Wordpress plugin, it seems to fit what I need to do perfectly.

Cheers, Adam :)

You can use Role Scoper's "Limited Editing Elements" feature to remove any html element from the editing form for users who don't have a required role. I've never tried that with the Post Title, though. You can try that it out and let me know how it goes. See below.

  • Go into the Post Editor and use the Firebug add-on to determine html ids ("Inspect Element" function) you want to hide. For example, the link edit area is edit-slug-box
  • Go to Roles > Options > Advanced tab. In the Limited Editing Elements section, add any ids you want to limit.
  • Set desired role requirement for "Specified element IDs also require the following blog-wide Role:"
  • Click update button

Note that the Adminimize plugin would also be able to deactivate certain portions of the Edit Form for roles you specify.

You can prevent the display of Role Scoper menus by adjusting the following option: Roles > Options > Features tab > Content Maintenance > "Roles and Restrictions can be set:". Other menu items could be deactivated via the Adminimize plugin.
