Page Roles: can't simply update, must first delete

Hi Kevin,

I have several user groups that have editor rights for a defined page and all subpages. Last night I added many new subpages. RS doesn't give the users the editor capability for the new subpage automaticly. So I just wanted to update the Page Roles by simply assigning the rights once more. Unfortunately this didn't work (the new subpages kept on unassigned). I first had to delete the Role for the main page that "assign for selected and subpages" worked like it should (for all subpages!) after submit.

Sorry for my bad english…

Greetings from Germany

Well, same problem with category roles. There I noticed, that RS does automatically assign the role for subcategorys - but only for the first level.

Home

- Main

- - Sub Main ("assign for selected and all subpages")

- - - Sub Sub (all categorys assigned)

- - - - Sub Sub Sub(no new category assigned automatically)

Like described above, by deleting the Role and assiging it again this problem can be avoided.

By the way: Great plugin!!!

Stefan, I understand what you're saying, but I haven't been able to confirm it for pages or categories. Are you sure that the parent page / category has an "assign for children" setting? This would be indicated by curly braces {UserName} in the bulk administration form. Removing the "assign to children" role setting at any level in the tree will prevent auto-assignment to further children on that branch.

Hi Kevin,

I'm not sure if you really understood me.

So I try it once again. I have the same structure in pages and categorys on my website, so the following is for both (but I write only "pages", that's shortener).

I had the following:

- Main1

- - Sub Main1 ("assign for selected and all subpages")

- - - Sub Sub1 (all categorys assigned)

- - - - Sub Sub Sub1(all categorys assigned)

- - Sub Main2 ("assign for selected and all subpages")

- - - Sub Sub2 (all categorys assigned)

- - - - Sub Sub Sub2(all categorys assigned)

Now I deleted every page or nearly every page under every "Sub main". Then I created many new pages under "Sub Main". But I haven't changed anything in RS.

But when trying to edit the new pages, I noticed that the "assign for selected and all subpages" haven't worked right - not every page under "sub main" have gotten the right RS rights.

I'm not sure, but it seamed as if the "assign for selected and all subpages" of the "Sub main" only worked for the next level of pages, not for the one deeper.Unfortunately, I didn't look after this problem closer, I immediately started to look for a solution.

I found out that I had to delete the "assign for selected and all subpages" and rebuild my rights another time. Now, when editing the rights manually, it worked fine. Every subpage on every level got the correct rights.

Maybe it was a problem of the RS version I used, it was rc9.92xx. I've now updated on current version. When I find time, I will try to reproduce this problem.

Stefan
