We have created certain categories within word-press some being 'abc', 'yxz', 'efg' etc.
A post was originally created by a user with permission level: Author, and was classified as 'efg', but appeared to have been overridden by WordPress to be categorised as 'yxz instead.
The result of this is that it ended up being listed under 'abc', which is obviously an issue in light of access permissions particularly the more sensitive Groups or Categories.
I have now reclassified this as 'efg', but my permission level is 'Editor', so does this rank higher than any in-built override in WordPress?

Check your Category Restrictions and Category Roles to confirm that user is allowed to publish to the category in question. When a post goes from draft to published, Role Scoper removes any category selections which the user can't publish to. If no valid selections remain, the default category is selected. If they cannot publish to the default category, one of their permitted categories becomes the default.

I would need to know more about your installation to pursue this, since I'm not seeing the problem on a test site configured as you describe. Drop me a contact (preferably with a login) if you want to discuss it further.

That's not supposed to be editable. It just shows the result of the capabilities included in your WP and RS Role Definitions.

This problem proved to occur only with an old beta version of Role Scoper.
