This has probably been answered before but…..
I have an existing wp site and I just installed role scoper. I have created a group and assigned 3 users to the group. I want to be able to lock down the site so the users in this group can only see and edit a select few existing pages that they will be responsible for updating. I'm ok with them creating new subpages, editing, and deleting pages but not sure how I go about setting this up. Can anyone give me a quick rundown on how-to get this done? Thanks!!!!

After reading the usage guide I thought I had been setting this up correctly however when I try to edit the pages I get the message "You are not allowed to edit this page."

it appears that if I change the page author I can get what I'm trying to do to work….well almost….. the problem is I want it to work for everyone in the group but it only works for that one person I set as page owner.

Can you confirm that the your user is a member of the group, and that the group has a Page Editor role for the page(s) in question? With that configuration, I have no problem editing a page, even with a base WP role of Subscriber.

I would also need to know if you've modified RS Role Definitions.

Yeah the user is a member of the group and the group has Page Editor role for the pages and it's subpages. I have not changed any of the RS Rold Definitions and just to be sure I did a Revert to Default.
It does correctly show only the pages that the user has permission to edit. Just when I click on the page I get that message "You are not allowed to edit this page."

I think I might have figured it out. I think it was a plugin that I had tested out at some point and decided not to use but never deactivated it. Once I did, the pages were appeared to be editable. Sweet!!!! Awesome Plugin btw. Thanks!

I noticed that even though the users have Editor rights…..they can't Write a new page. The "Write" menu doesn't even show up unless you are editing a page….even then if you click on "Write" nothing shows up under the Wordpress menu. Any ideas?

Giving a user the Page Editor role for specific page(s) does not enable them to create new pages. For that, you need to give them a General Role of Page Contributor / Author / Editor.
