Pleaae help!
I am trying to reset the role definition for individual posts. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling plugin to no avail.
When i try and remove roles in bulk it doesnt work they just change around and never go away - the roles on each post that is….its a nightmare.
I just want to restrict post visibility by category for different users. I had it working like a dream and my tag cloud for each users categories was looking perfect then the tag cloud started showing tags from other users categories…..and then istarted messing around. Please can you help me reset everything?

That was a nightmare - the functionality works fine for defining individual post roles…….just not in firefox…..at all……fixed it in IE.
As for the tag cloud. it fixed itself once i defined roles correctly for users/groups…. odd it seemed to ingore the 'defaults' i thought were in place for 'subscibers'….anyway fixed now, sorry about that

Actually im not home and dry yet. I cant seem to get the tag cloud to consistantly filter for tags of posts that a given user has permission to see? Any ideas?

Are you using Category Restrictions? If so, you should be aware that setting roles/restrictions for individual posts will override Category Restrictions and Category Roles.
For bulk role admin, were you selecting the "remove assignments" option in the Assignment Mode" dropdown?

What do you mean by "consistently"? Are you seeing proper filtering for some tags but not others? If so, what is the difference in the role/restriction configuration of the properly/improperly filtered tags?

i started by using category restrictions (as i am now) and this was fine. but i swear one minute the tag cloud looked fine and then a few clicks later it was showing all tags again. i went through this twice messing with settings until it worked again. alas in mid messing i started fidling around with post permissions 'enmass'
i finally fixed this by using ie instead of ff. but still the tag cloud was wrong. i have now removed all individual post settings. and everything should be fine….. is it possible some of the archived posts (or somethinglike that) still have some rstrictions?…. thanks again for any ideas

i have tried de activating all other plugins - no change.
i am not using post or tag roles/restrictions - only cat. roles /restrictions
no tags are being fitered, i checked many posts and deleted thousands of posts (wprobot rss autoblogs)
As mentioned the role scoper filtering of categories for different users is working fine and although the tags are visible in the tag cloud users cant actually see the tags/posts they are not supposed to so the cat. roles/restrictions are working fine.
i am using wordpress 3.2.1
chatroll live chat 2.1.1
contact form plugin 2.06
role scoper 1.3.46
s2member 111003
wp robot 3 3.55
wp show id's 110709
but as i mentioed i deactivated and still had the same problem
i have also tried super tags widget 110709 and that had the same problem
like i said it seemed fleetingly to work last night and it was all fixed then this morning it wasnt working again.
V. Gratefull for even the quickest, shortest, tiniest, note on ideas i can look into further

Ahh, the tag cloud filtering works with other themes, i am using pagelines platformpro.
i will ask pagelines if they have any ideas.
If this new info gives you any clues, please share them with me - thank you

In a custom tag cloud widget would there be a 'taxonomy' entry that may fix this problem?

Interestingly when i change the widget to a category cloud this looks fine, all the other categories are filtered out…..same as the custom menu with categories in it

OK, tried adding taxonomy list widget with interesting results. As with the tag cloud widgets after activation and first setup the first time you view in a restricted account the filtering works. The second user to login it doesnt work, and then when you return to the first user it doent work either. This beahviour is consistant. It works once and then doesnt filter after first time…..

Do you have Post Tags enabled for filtering?
Roles > Options > Realm > Taxonomy Usage
Have you tried disabling the RS cache?
Roles > Options > Features > Internal Cache

i gave up and changed my entire site to a wp multisite install giving a sub domain to each customer so there were no mixed categories in a single install. now rs and clouds working fine…… thanks anyway
