Kevin,
With the recent upgrade to WP 2.8.5 and RS 1.8 (using same theme as in 2008) I found the following issues:
When using the Recent Posts the Archives widgets in a Sidebar, on a "Private/Members Only" page or post, the WP Private pages aren't being displayed/tallied (Recent Posts only displays list of links to non-private pages; Archives tallies only the non-private posts).
I do recall, that you did something at that time to account for the proper display, depending on "public" or "Private" status, when using RS.
Can show you two sites (old and dev) to compare.
Thanks in advance. [Happy to compensate for time.]

I can take care of that early next week.

Great, just let me know what you need, and when you want it.
Extra credit if you have answer to this question:
The AllianceCCSP group posts "Visibility: Private" Posts more often than Public ones. Therefore, it would be easier data entry if the "Visibility: Private" was the default (either by WP Core edit or via Role Scoper… magic.)

Sorry I let this get buried. Would you still like me to look into it?

Did you notice that RS 1.1 enables new Posts and/or Pages to be defaulted to private visibility?

I'm not seeing this in the version 1.1 Release Candidate code.

I'm using Wordpress 2.9.2 and have the same issue. Private posts disappear from the Recent Posts widget if I'm logged in as a subscriber. If I'm an administrator, it stays on. I'd love for it to be fixed (or if there's anything I can do on my end). Thank you!

I made my posts public but restricted the readers. They now show up in the Recent Posts widget. *Shrug* It's just missing the extra layer of protection (and "Private:" in front of the post title).

This was fixed in Role Scoper 1.2
