Problem with Link Categories

I'm having a problem with configuring access to Links and Link Categories which appears to be a bug but I'm not sure.

To try to determine this I set up a clean install of wordpress 3.1 and the latest version of Role Scoper (at this time version 1.3.28)

Although I have gone through the steps of creating User Groups, Role Groups and Link Category Restrictions, there still seems to be a problem with the Role Scoper Plugin.

The main problems I am having when I log into the site as a test user are:

1. Even though I am adding access for the user to 'Link Category Manager', they are not given the menu option to maintain the category. In another installation, I was given a list of Link Categories but saw the "Cheatin' Uh" message when attempting to edit it. Google "cheatin uh" you never heard of it.

2. When I list the links I can see the links that are available for me to edit, but the Categories column does not contain data.

3. When I choose "Add New" to create a new link, I am not able to select a category for the new link. All available categories are blanked out.

I created a pdf file documenting this problem located at:

Please advise,

Thanks,

Dave King

I installed your development version 1.3.29-dev but I  am still seeing this problem. The Link Categories do not display even though my users have Link Category Manager and Link Editor access to specific Link Categories.

I confirmed that for configurations where the user has no other category management roles assigned.

Fixed in the updated Role Scoper development version.

along these same lines.  i have created a user and assigned her to two user groups.  then i assigned those user groups to their respective link categories in the link category roles screen.  when i try to have that person add a link the categories are not available.  then i went back to the link category roles screen and assigned her directly to those two link categories.  still no link categories are available to her.

the two link categories are restricted by default.  the user and her user groups have both been assigned to the link category.  i am running version 1.3.29-beta.  what other information do you need to help me figure this out.

thanks, curtis

I didn't increment the version tag after updating the dev code an hour ago. Can you confirm that you've downloaded it since then?

[update: never mind; I see that this is a different issue. Will further update the development code shortly.]

The updated Role Scoper development version fixes filtering of Link Categories for non-administrators on the "Edit Link" and "Add New Link" forms.
