Hi Kevin,
We have a site that is currently working on WP 2.8.4a and Role Scoper 1.1.7. (You had provided some consulting for us on how to configure RS for our site beatthegmat.com about a year ago.) I tried to upgrade to WP 3.0.1 and RS 1.2.7 and ran into 4 major problems:
1. RS completely deleted all the User Groups and permissions when I cleared the RS cache.
2. The list of categories that is on the permissions page isn't displayed correctly because there is no hierarchy. All categories are just listed in alphabetical order.
3. I created a new group and tried to assign permissions to that group for a specific category and all of its sub-categories. But RS wouldn't record any of the permissions.
4. I noticed on the 1.3RC3 and 1.3RC4 notes that there are a lot of bugs with RS on WP3 multi-site installations. Some of the bugs that were fixed in 1.3RC3 and RC4 are critical for us since we use WP Super Cache.
We're still running on WP 2.8.4 since the upgrade on our staging server wasn't successful.
So here are 2 questions:
1. Have you heard about the problems that I've described above? If so, is there a fix for them?
2. Is RS compatible with WP3 multi-site? Also, if not now, when do you plan on making it stable with WP3 multi-site.
Thanks for your help!
David

Flushing the cache does not delete group definitions or role assignments from the database; it only deletes the cached copy of them. Maybe a bug in your previous version failed to keep the cache in sync with deleted entries and/or deleted those db entries on a previous version update without flushing the cache. Another possibility is that they are still present in your DB but not being retrieved / applied / displayed properly. I'd be interested in taking a look at your installation.

Okay, I see that in Roles > Categories and Restrictions > Categories; will get it fixed.

Yes I see that (in 1.3.RC4) you can successfully assign a Category role "for selected category" but not "for selected and sub-categories". This appears unrelated to the intended recipient being a group (or a new group).

As you noted, the bugs listed in the change log are already fixed. The only other known Multisite issue is inability to modify some Default Site Options.

Let's work together to finish stabilizing / proving the Release Candidate's Multisite behavior!

All bugs confirmed above are fixed in Role Scoper 1.3.RC5.

Thanks Kevin! Will report back to let you know if the new RC version works. I'm excited to be able to upgrade to 3.0.1 finally!
On another note, sorry if I came across as complaining. You're doing awesome work. It was just frustrating when Role Scoper wasn't working because it's one of the most essential plugins for our site!

No, it didn't come across that way. I appreciate your detailed report.
