Problems with Subscribe2

Hi Kevin,

I'm having troubles (again) with the Subscribe2 plugin. With some older categories (created a few versions of RS ago) my users can see them fine in the list of subscriptions categories provided and everthnig is OK, but with newly created categories, they are not appearing in the list available for subscription. I lock the new categories down with category restrictions, and then open them up for the authors to have permission to author in the relevant categories, either as indivuals, or as being part of a group.

The category permissions seem fine, from blog front content is protected as it should be, and from the backend, the authors see the correct categories for creating new posts. It just seems to be subscribe 2 that's not playing properly by not offering a subscription to the new categories.

using WP 3.0.3, RS 1.3.20, Subscribe2 6.1

Thanks

Deactivating and reactivating RS seems to have fixed it. New categories now appearing correctly.

Hi Kevin,

Now using RS 1.3.27, WP3.1-RC3, it seems that this issue still persists, in that each time I add some new categories, I need to deactivate and re-activate RS to get subscribe2 to display the latest categories correctly. It's clearly not fatal, it is a bit of a pain, and would be good if you could take a look at it sometime.

Thanks

Is there anything unusual about the way you add categories? RS hooks the save_term action to flush its cache and I'm not seeing a problem in my installation.

Let me know of any other config details that might help me reproduce this.

Hi Kevin,

Sorry for a slow reply, but I'm afraid I've nothing really to report. I just create categories in the back-end, as far as I'm aware in the normal way.

What sort of config details are you after?

RS settings?

Category structure?

Have you modified Roles > Options > Realm?

Can you confirm that flushing the RS Cache also forces the Subscribe2 category checklists to refresh?

(Roles > Options > Features tab > Internal Cache > flush button)

Hi Kevin,

On one of myblogs where I have just reproduced the problem (not all my blogs are behaving in the same way, but I'm not on multisite, separate installs), flushing the cache does not work, de-activate and re-activate still does work.

Sorry, I have no idea, the blog is not very active, but it is 2 years old, so has been through many experiments, many RS versions, and many admin cock-ups!

Are you still seeing this problem with the current Role Scoper development version?
