Queries for Editors taking 30+ seconds

Hello,

We run Role Scoper 1.1.7 with Wordpress 2.8.4.

When admin-level users log in to Wordpress, the admin is snappy and loads up lists of posts and so on just fine. However, when editor-level users log in, the front page takes around 30 seconds to load. The same thing happens for the "Posts" section of the admin.

Turning off Role Scoper speeds things up again.

I can see in MySQL Administrator that logging in as an editor produces a massive SQL query, whereas logging in as an admin produces a much shorter line of SQL which doesn't take long at all.

Is there any reason why Role Scoper would be doing this, or has anyone heard of it before?

Thoughts and suggestions welcomed!

Role Scoper's achieves its content-specific access control by filtering (modifying) the default database queries. These filtered queries are large and fairly complex, but the delays you state here are not normal. In fact, I've never seen or heard of anything on that scale and months have passed since the last performance concern of any kind.

I'd like to correspond with you by email to diagnose why this would happen on your server / WP configuration.

I am having the same problem.

I have over 700 pages on my site, and over 90 different uses limited to about 5-6 pages each. Role Scoper has a HUGE slow down of roughly 30 seconds like the man above said, when editting a page, Wordpress shows its making around 80 some queries when I go to edit a page, when RS is disabled it drops to around 40 or lower.

My permalinks are set up right also.

I worked with bloodhound01 to locate the source of those delays. The performance fix is included in Role Scoper 1.3.RC3 (or 1.2.9.RC3 for WP < 3).

That makes this update a must-have for sites with hundreds of pages.
