Hey Kevin

Thank you for Role Scoper – it looks like a great deal of energy went into this.

I'm looking to define a very specific role, but I haven't figured out how to do it just yet.

I need to create a few WP accounts that are limited to comment moderation.  These users need to be able to delete/(de)activate/flag comments, but they shouldn't be able to edit the posts these comments are attached to.

If you have a few minutes, I'd be grateful for your insight.

Cheers

I think you could accomplish that by using the Role Manager plugin to define a custom role that has only the read and moderate_comments capabilities.

Good idea.

Unfortunately, a user still seems unable to moderate comments without being granted the "Edit Post" right.  I'll dig more deeply to see whether this can be solved easily.

Thanks for point me in the right direction.

Yeah, you're right. At this stage of WP and Role Scoper development, I don't see a solution that would decouple comment moderation from post editing capability in the way you describe.

Can the role scoper & Role Manager work together or will they conflict?

I to am seeking for a solution of a comment mod only same as droux LOL I don't see it being done I think it would take a major core revamp on WP part. Undecided

Yes, RS and Role Manager can work together. Role Manager modifies the default WP role definitions - a complementary function to RS.
