I have two Wordpress 3.0 installations both running Role Scoper 1.2.5. One works apparently fine, the other does not save members to the Role Groups or save Roles to the category assignment page. Although it was working previously it shows all groups as empty and no roles listed in the category assignments.

I have tried deleting Role Scoper plugin, emptying the wp_groups_rs, wp_role_scope_rs, wp_user2group_rs, wp_user2role2object_rs tables and deleteing the scoper_* records in the wp_options table. I have also tried changing themes and deactivating all other plugins.

Both systems are on different domains on Yahoo Webhosting but they have different history of plugin testing. I am at a loss. Can you help?

I looked into this using the server login you provided and tracked down the problem.

Your installation was running with an outdated Role Scoper database schema. The user2role2object_rs table was missing the columns associated with role date limits. Consequently, queries which reference those fields failed with a fatal DB error. Apparantly you did not succeed in dropping that table and the scoper_* option records before running the current version. I was able to force a db schema update by temporarily commenting out the scoper_version option retrieval (equivalent to deleting the scoper_version row). De-activating and re-activating the plugin would also have triggered that schema update.

My takeaway from this is to rewrite a few of the queries so that particular schema error is not fatal and merely prevents the date limiting from working.
