Role Scoper 1.0.0 Release Candidate 3
Further scrutiny of the last Role Scoper Release Candidate revealed some compatibility issues with WordPress 2.7. Those are now fixed as detailed below, along with a number of longstanding bugs of minor to moderate severity. The attachment filtering feature for direct file URL requests (introduced in RC2) is tested and stable. Role Scoper 1.0.0 RC3 feels close to a stable release, and barring any unexpected news in the next few days I plan to give it an official unveiling in the WP Plugins directory. First, I'll take a few days to update the readme file, feature list, FAQ and screen captures while you early adopters prove it out.
Changes from RC2 are as follows:
- Bugs new to 1.0.0-beta/RC:
- fixed: Users with page-assigned Page Contributor role (but lacking Page Editor role for the page) could edit it even after publishing.
- fixed: Restrictions, Results caches were not updated following Post/Page edit
- fixed: Restrictions, Results caches were not updated following Category Restriction edit
- fixed: In Post/Page Role assignment tabs, color coding of users with implicit role ownership did not fully reflect Category Restrictions
- fixed: Category Roles, Restrictions weren't listed on Category Edit form
- fixed: previous Subscribe2 compatibility fix caused profile listing of unreadable categories
- Longstanding Bugs:
- fixed: Link Administration Restrictions were not applied
- fixed: Pending Revisions of subpages stored to parent page if default roles were set
- fixed: Current User wasn't stored as revision author for pending revisions
- fixed: Following saving of a pending post revision, link back to Edit Posts was broken
- fixed: In Page Edit form, caption for "Restrict for Subpages" checkbox was misaligned
- WP 2.7 Compatibility:
- fixed: Pending Revisions support for WP 2.7
- fixed: Since WP 2.7 Quick Edit is not cleanly filterable, disable it for non-Editors
- fixed: Recent Comments not filtered in admin Dashboard with WP 2.7
- fixed: In Post/Page edit form, role edit boxes were not draggable with WP 2.7
- fixed: Some admin tables failed to alternate background color with WP 2.7
- fixed: Recent Comments widget not filtered with WP 2.7
- fixed: Page Parent dropdown was not filtered with WP 2.7
- Changes:
- change: Moved "Restrict" checkboxes to top of Role metaboxes
- change: Rephrased "Restrict" checkbox captions for clarity
- change: Insert RewriteRule for uploads filtering only if uploads folder is in WP folder branch
- change: dropped all vestiges of WP 2.2-2.3 support
Update, Thu 11 Dec PM: The code has been revised slightly to RC3b, fixing the following:
- fixed: Group Administrators cannot manage their group(s) unless they are also a WP Administrator
- fixed: On some installations, fatal error on flush_rules() call

I was not able to confirm this on another test server, but added some precautionary code to Role Scoper 1.0.0-RC3b

As i'm experiencing some weird problems with my current role/rights-system on my blog since 2.7, I can't wait until you put this baby into the repository! I'll make this one the first to be installed directly from the dashboard.
